MLT offers the following advantages:
The MLT Black Equity at Work Certification provides a roadmap to enable and encourage employers across America to pursue Black equity with the same rigor and results orientation as their pursuit of earnings and other key priorities.
Our rubric is comprised of 5 pillars that align with both Internal and External markers of Black Equity:
We score on a 100-point basis, with a 60-point threshold for certification. Details of the score breakdown can be seen below:
Below, is an illustrative project timeline example.
Plan Approved
Plan approved that sets a goal above the 60-point minimum threshold to reach certification in a 1-3 year timeframe. The soonest an employer can achieve Certification is one year after being Plan Approved.
Execute Plan
Employer works toward meeting the objectives and metrics set forth in plan. 1- 3 years to meet threshold number of points for certification
Performance and Plan Assessed
Must make proportional progress each year toward threshold. Toward the end of year one, employers’ progress across all Black Equity indicators is assessed and scored based on the rubric. Their resulting score determines whether they qualify for Certification and at which tier.
Certification
Based on meeting points threshold and submitting acceptable plan for subsequent year. Authorized to use MLT Black Equity at Work mark and recognized by Black Equity at Work Alliance. Employers with significant work environment challenges for Black employees that expect to earn Certification at the end of year one are advised to focus intensively on improving their work environment and also explaining the meaningful steps they are making to improve Black equity generally.
Re-Certification
Annual re-Certification is required to maintain status and eligibility for high performance recognition
Tiering
We offer four Certification tiers. The tiers are:
Re-Certification
The Certification mark employers are permitted to display during the year following Certification will include their tier (e.g. “MLT Black Equity at Work Certified – Bronze”).
Tiers offer employers that may be further along on the Black Equity journey additional opportunities for distinction based on progress. They are also valuable for employers with internal work environment challenges that achieve Certification, as they will reinforce the employer’s message that, while marked progress has been made, more work, still needs to be done.
